For unknown bands and artists, support and promotion is key; this is one passion for a local blogger Lucy Clarke. Alone she has created a blog Music Matters To Us which promotes the unsigned and up and coming. She fills the blog with reviews and interviews giving a supporting voice to the local music. With views coming from beyond England, the blog helps to give people an insight to local talents in Staffordshire, and for similar bands to find each other. Lucy also plans to do larger events, such and providing some coverage of the local music festival Hippy Haze.
Originally starting as a hobby, Music Matters To Us has flourished into a career path for the young blogger. Currently it is all run by Lucy, but in the future she wants it to grow by bringing more people to help fuel her passion. She even has ideas of it growing to an online magazine, filled with weekly gig and EP/album reviews, and new interviews. Future plans also may have MMTU turn into a radio show to support the bands, as this is a goal for Lucy, to have her own radio show and be a music journalist. If she accomplishes this, who knows how far she’ll be able to spread her passion, and add support to the smaller local bands.
